Class size is limited in almost all of these courses and students are encouraged to sign-up early as these classes typically fill quickly. Adult Basic Education classes and programs are intended to serve proficient English speakers to gain the skills needed to successfully earn a diploma or GED and high school graduates who lack the skills need to succeed in postsecondary education. Noncredit ABEN classes are designed for individuals and small groups to practice basic skills in reading, writing, math and critical thinking. To obtain a Certificate of Competency, students must successfully pass at least two ABEN courses and earn a placement test score required for entry into college-level credit Math and English classes.
